Varane surprises everyone, retires from the French National Team

Raphael Varane has decided to retire from the French National Team.

The Manchester United footballer has surprised everyone with his newest decision, while he was expected to take the next step to become the captain of the “Tricolors”.

The former Real Madrid defender was a key figure in the 2018 World Cup, helping “Les Bleus” win the World Cup in Russia.

He has played 93 matches with the National Team of his country for almost a decade, writes the French medium “Le Parisien”.

Varane made his debut for France in the March 2013 win over Georgia in the 2014 World Cup qualifiers.

He quickly became a starter at, but an injury kept him out of the 2016 European Championship.

Varane played in every game at the last two World Cups, becoming only the fourth player to win the World Cup and Champions League, joining Christian Karembeu (1998), Roberto Carlos (2002) and Sami Khedira (2014).

On this occasion, an era of France would come to an end after the retirement from the Nation
