Avram Glazer has described Cristiano Ronaldo as “one of Manchester United’s greatest footballers” after being asked about his decision to terminate his contract with the Portuguese.
The American businessman, who co-owns the Old Trafford side, has also been asked if the Glazer family are open to accepting offers to sell the club. He has been tight-lipped on the matter, telling Sky News that “the board is going through a process” of a sale, while refusing to comment on Ronaldo’s criticism of United’s current board.
Ronaldo, who returned to Manchester for a second time in the summer of 2021, is now a player without a contract and a decision on where he will play is expected to come after he finishes the World Cup.
The Glazers have owned the Old Trafford team for 17 years and fans have consistently protested their presence, but they will soon be on Ronaldo’s way as they prepare to leave the management of the club by selling him.
