Ivan Juri? insists that Roma still do not have a winning mentality, but the players have the opportunity to look beyond the chaos and improve the situation. The Giallorossi will host Dynamo Kyiv at the Stadio Olimpico on Thursday in the third leg of the Europa League group stage.
Roma have just one point from their first two European matches this season. Juri? replaced Daniele De Rossi last month and has recorded two wins, two draws and two defeats in charge of the team. He is expected to make some changes to the line-up for tomorrow’s game, but has yet to decide on all the starters, apart from Tommaso Baldanzi, who joined him at the press conference.
“I haven’t decided yet, but I believe we will make some changes, not big changes, just a little bit,” he said, as TMW reports.
When asked if Roma are as determined as he expected, Juri? replied: “Half for half. We played well in the last game [against Inter], but we still lack a winning mentality. The mentality is not at the level that Roma should have. At the end of the day, I think we have what it takes to do well, but we need to change. I expect a different attitude tomorrow to further improve the situation. We need a stronger character. We cannot accept mistakes like those against Monza.”
He emphasized that to get the right mentality, you have to work every day in training and that the team is still trying to get where it needs to be.
As for the opinions of some fans and analysts that Roma need a stronger presence within the club, Juri? disagrees and stressed that he lacks nothing from the support of the club’s management.
Roma are currently in 10th place in Serie A with 10 points from eight games, with eight goals scored and six conceded.
