The third Dutchman to score two goals or more for Milan in a Champions League game is Tijjani Reijnders.
Prior to the midfielder’s two goals against Brugge last night, only Clarens Sedorf and Marko van Basten had accomplished the feat. Van Basten scored two goals against Vitosha Sofia in 1988 and Gothenburg in 1992. After yesterday’s victory, the red and black midfielder made the following remarks on the club’s television.
How are you feeling?
I am dreaming. I was eager to taste the Champions League goal. One would be plenty for me, but two is better.
Which match was it?
We played a little slower in the first half because we were on the right level, and we found more space when they were numerically inferior. As though their draw had awakened us.
What was this Milan lacking?
We lacked intensity in the first half, but the young guys made up for it with two crucial assists.
In what way does numerical superiority explain the aim that is given up?
It is hard to say, we will have to wait and watch the game, of course. A goal with a numerical advantage cannot be given up, and this should never occur again.
Which position is your favorite?
For me, it is essentially the same. I played a bit more forward against Bruges, and more importantly, I tried to find more space in front of the goal. In order to participate more in the game, I usually prefer to play a little further back.
