Mourinho: Zaniolo wants to leave, but I feel he will stay at Roma

Jose Mourinho has confirmed that Nicolo Zaniolo wants to leave Roma this winter.

The Italian was not included in the team tonight in the match against Spezia, which Roma won with the result 0:2.

After the game, questions about him to Mourinho were inevitable.

“The manager talked about it, I think he did well. The important thing is that we won and played as a team. I have my opinion and my feeling that he will still be here on February 1st. I understand that Nicolo wants to leave, but this is what I feel,” said the Portuguese.

“He said he wants to leave. But, this does not mean that he will leave. I say this because he is an important player and has a significant value in the transfer market. The offers on the table are not worthy of him or the club. There is nothing there. That is why it is my feeling that he will be here in February,” Mourinho added.

It has been reported that Tottenham Hotspur and Milan are looking to take the 23-year-old on loan for the rest of the season, as the agreement includes a purchase option for 25 million euros.

Roma are said to be seeking guarantees to sell Zaniolo and an “obligation to buy” option could be included in an eventual deal.

Otherwise, Nicolo Zaniolo has a valid contract with Roma until the summer of next year.
