Messi or Maradona? Coach Sampaoli chooses the best

After the triumph in the World Cup with Argentina, the debate about who is the best in the history of football between Lionel Messi and Diego Armando Maradona has become even hotter.

Now, the scales seem to be leaning more towards the “flea” while another character lining up alongside the PSG star is the former Albiceleste coach in 2018, Jorge Sampaoli.

The latter emphasized that the aspect that gives Messi an advantage compared to Maradona is continuity.

“It is about two players in different eras. In his era, Maradona was a player who decided every game he played, but there was no consistency. Messi stayed at the top longer and already won a World Cup at the age of 35, becoming the top scorer for Argentina at the World Cup. For me, this makes Messi the best in history, he constantly makes the difference,” said Sampaoli.
