Marcus Rashford has turned into Ronaldo at United

In-form striker Marcus Rashford appears to have ‘transferred Cristiano Ronaldo’s energy’ to Manchester United, says Louis Saha.

The Red Devils bid farewell to one of their most dangerous strikers in November 2022, with five-time Ballon d’Or winner Ronaldo leaving on a free transfer. Rashford has now shown signs of rediscovering his form at this stage, while he has been unstoppable since the World Cup ended – scoring 16 goals in 17 appearances and has 24 this season, which it is his best figure.

“There is no better than Rashford at the moment in the world of football, but Kylian Mbappe is even better because he has been outstanding for the last three years and is at PSG where he plays with players like Neymar and Messi. In terms of how good he was, he was also seen at the World Cup, but Marcus Rashford and Mbappe are the two best in the world at the moment. Erling Haaland is playing well, but he does not give for the team. The joy of playing like a lion, the speed, the confidence of this boy at the moment make him the same as Kylian Mbappe – it is impossible to defend against such a talented player. He has transferred Cristiano Ronaldo’s energy to the team after his departure – I don’t know what will happen to this guy”, former United striker Saha said about the 25-year-old.

Rashford scored twice in United’s 3-0 win against Leicester in the last game and he is confident of scoring more than 30 goals this season – something Ronaldo has consistently achieved in recent years for the teams he has played for.

United have been in good collective form of late, with Erik ten Hag’s side in third place in the Premier League – five points behind leaders Arsenal – heading into the second leg against Barcelona on Thursday in search of passed to the 1/8 finals in the Europa League, after a 2-2 draw in the first leg.
