Paolo Maldini attempted a major coup during his tenure as Milan’s technical director.
The legend of the Rossoneri stayed as the leader of the club of his heart until the first days of June.
His dismissal angered the Milan people, while the former captain has revealed an interesting marketing detail related to Leo Messi, world champion with Argentina and winner of eight Golden Balls.
“I think that a player like Messi is a spectacle for everyone. He always does things that surprise you. When I read that he could go to Inter, I was sad. For 10 days I tried and tried to bring him to Milan, but then we understood and accepted that it was impossible”, recalls Paolo Maldini.
The 55-year-old played throughout his career with Milan, the team with which he won everything as a player.
Then the adventure as a manager, again with his Milan. Maldini did a fantastic job, adjusting the balance of the club and providing the team with very good reinforcements at a small cost.
Under his management, Milan returned to win the championship title (2022) after 11 years, while last season Stefano Pioli’s team reached the semi-finals of the Champions League.
