Lyon reject United for Nicolas Tagliafico

Manchester United have failed in their first attempt to sign Nicolas Tagliafico after their bid to take him on loan from Lyon was rejected.

According to Britain’s Metro newspaper, the Red Devils have failed in their bid to sign Lyon defender Nicolas Tagliafico on loan, with the Ligue 1 side insisting the loan should be more of a purchase. United boss Ten Hag is familiar with the Argentine’s style of play as the Dutchman managed Ajax – where Tagliafico played at the time.

United are currently short of options at left-back, and this week they are expected to play against Arsenal as guests, with Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia missing due to injuries.

Diogo Dalot barely covered that space as Erik ten Hag’s side narrowly beat Nottingham Forest in a season-ending upset.

With the transfer window set to close on Friday, the Red Devils are looking at a number of left-back options, with Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella, Barcelona’s Marcos Alonso and Tottenham flop Sergio Reguilon among the other players the club are looking at as alternatives.
