Rafael Leao was relaxed when talking about the possible renewal of his contract with Milan, confirming that new talks will be held after the World Cup in Qatar
The 23-year-old Portuguese forward has 18 months left on his contract with the Reds and his future has become a hot topic in the Lombardy capital in recent months, with the club ready to offer him a new contract. Leao is currently in the World Cup with his National Team, but the rumors about his future have not stopped.
Speaking to La Gazzetta Dello Sport, Leao gave a brief update on his contract in Milan.
“I am happy, proud, now I will concentrate on the World Cup, then I will talk to Milan when I return”.
“Do I want to sign a contract? Even before I joined the National Team, we had a meeting with Maldini, it was positive, so when I return to Milan we will talk again”.
Milan still has to find a solution for a new contract with Leao, which would solve some problems. The first is the huge €19 million the Portuguese forward owes Sporting after terminating his contract unilaterally in 2018 and the second is the demands for his salary from the player’s agents.
The Reds have offered him a deal worth six million euros a season, but his agent Jorge Mendes and his lawyer Ted Dimvula want bigger figures.
