Inter disappoints in the Champions League, draws with Sociedad

The runner-up of Europe, Inter did not start the Champions League well, drawing 1-1 in San Sebastian against Real Sociedad. Mendez (4′) scored for Real Sociedad, while Lautaro Martinez (87′) scored the equalizing goal for Inter.

Inter disappointed in the match against Real Sociedad by drawing with a score of 1-1.

After the spectacular victory in the Della Madonina Derby, Inter found it difficult to score goals in today’s match in Spain.

The first half started frantically from the locals who managed to take the lead. Mendez took advantage of a defensive error by Inter and scored in the fourth minute of the match.

Sociedad had the chance to score two more goals against Inter at the end of the first half, with Le Normand (41′) almost missing and Kubo’s shot (45′) being wonderfully saved by Sommer.

Inter were thought to be down a man when in the 65th minute the referee red carded Barrellas, but after a VAR review it was overturned.

Inter only came alive in the 79th minute when Thuram scored and Inter were thought to have equalised, however referee Mark Olivier disallowed the goal after looking at VAR for offside.

The equalizer came in the 87th minute, when Frattesi passed for Lautaro Martinez.

Benfica will return to the Premier League on September 24 when they play Portimonenses away, while Inter travel to Empoli in Serie A.
