Guardiola explains why De Bruyne missed City training

The coach of Manchester City, Pep Guardiola has removed the dilemmas regarding the absence of Kevin De Bruyne while also giving an opinion regarding the injuries of Ruben Dias and John Stones.

De Bruyne was absent from Tuesday’s training session ahead of Thursday’s Premier League game against Tottenham, but Guardiola explained that the midfielder was absent due to “a personal problem” rather than an injury. On the other hand, defender Dias was out due to a thigh injury from the World Cup, while his partner Stones was out for the last two games.

Speaking at the press conference about this crucial match at the Etihad, Guardiola gave some answers.

“He (De Bruyne) had a personal problem and did not train on Tuesday. Today, he is back,” he said.

“They (Stones and Dias) are back. In the last two training sessions, they have trained well and are in the race to be the starter. We will also train in the evening. We will see how we will play and who will play”.

After the defeat in the Manchester derby, the visit of Spurs is a match that should be won anyway by Guardiola’s players. The Citizens are eight points behind table-leaders Arsenal and nothing but victory is required at this stage of the season. That this trio is back is big news.

Besides this meeting with Tottenham City will play again at home before the beginning of February against Wolves on Sunday.
