Donnarumma admits that the return to “San Siro” was not easy

Gianluigi Donnarumma has admitted that it was not easy to return to the “San Siro” when Paris Saint-Germain faced his former team, Milan, in the Champions League last week.

The goalkeeper had left the “Rossoners” as a free agent in the summer of 2021, to join the Parisians.

This move was not liked at all by the fans of Milan, who still have not forgiven the Italian.

Since moving to Paris, Donnarumma has played at San Siro with the Italian National Team for the Nations League semi-final against Spain in October 2021.

However, last Tuesday’s match as a member of PSG was the first time the 24-year-old returned to the packed San Siro with Milan fans.

There was a hostile reception for him, with constant whistling and cheering throughout the game. He was also “covered” in fake money before kick-off, having been called “Dollarumma” since his transfer to the Parc des Princes.

Speaking at a Hall of Fame ceremony in Coverciano tonight, Donnarumma said: “It wasn’t easy in October 2021 and it isn’t easy now.”

“You try not to get distracted on the pitch and give everything to help your team. After the match you tend to feel it more and let your emotions go, but on the pitch you try not to let it affect you. I have grown a lot in this regard”, added Donnarumma.
