Arsenal could make another record transfer, aim to sign Kvarataskhelia via Meluso

Arsenal have reportedly expressed an interest in Napoli star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

According to the journalist, Steve Kay, the Londoners believe that the possibility of Victor Osimhen staying at the Italian champion will work in their favor.

Arsenal are also said to be bolstered by a pre-existing relationship between the club and Napoli’s new sporting director, Mauro Meluso.

An excellent relationship has been built since Meluso recommended Jakob Kiwior to the Gunners before he became Spezia’s sporting director. Arsenal heeded the recommendation and signed the Polish defender last summer.

From this, there is a belief that Arsenal can succeed in their efforts to transfer Kvaratskhelia.

Kay also wrote that Napoli have previously rejected interest from Premier League clubs for the Georgian, as Osimhem was then thought to be leaving.

This is said to encourage the Italian club to look at a possible sale in a more favorable light, although it has been publicly stated by the Neapolitans that both Osimhen and Kvaratskhelia are not for sale.

Thus, it would take a big offer from Arsenal to make such a transfer, not ruling out the possibility of a key player leaving.

The mutual respect formed by previous deals between Arsenal and Napoli’s sporting director could see a move go through at the end of the transfer window, but Napoli are “notorious” negotiators and the London club will need a potentially record fee for the club for the eventual transfer of the 22-year-old.

“The Gunners” broke the club record this summer with the transfer of Declan Rice from West Ham United, for 105 million pounds.

Otherwise, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has a valid contract with Napoli until the summer of 2027.
