Cristiano Ronaldo was again the protagonist last night in Al-Nassr’s victory over Al-Rayyan with a score of 2:1 in the AFC Champions League.
The Portuguese star scored a beautiful left-footed goal in the 76th minute to secure victory for the Saudi team.
On this occasion, the 39-year-old reached the quota of 71 goals, while he also made 17 assists with the club from the Pro Saudi League.
Despite his advanced age, the Portuguese has shown no signs of fatigue or decline in physical or technical form.
He scored 50 goals for the Saudi Arabian side last year and aims to keep scoring more goals, although he admits he doesn’t have much time left to play football.
Ronaldo’s goal last night was special as he dedicated it to his father, who passed away in 2005.
“We made a great performance, created many chances. Today’s goal has a different taste. I would like my father to be alive because today is his birthday”, said the former footballer of Sporting Lisbon, Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus.
Ronaldo scored the 904th goal in his career and he has not hidden his desire to reach the jubilee number of 1000 goals in his career.
CR7 has a contract with Al-Nassr until 2025, but the parties are negotiating to extend it for another year.
Ronaldo’s next goal is to play in the 2026 World Cup with Portugal and after that, he will probably retire from football.
“I still want to play football and I know I don’t have much time left on the pitch. The most important thing is not to be considered the best player or win trophies anyway. The most important thing is to enjoy this sport and be useful for the club and the National Team. Records are part of me and I am used to breaking them. “I felt the pressure from the first day and I think I will feel it until the last day,” concluded Ronaldo.
What makes this super-player even greater is that the Portuguese has scored more goals after the age of 30 than before.
In fact, before turning 30, Ronaldo had scored 440 goals in 596 official matches.
After the age of 30, CR7 scored 441 goals, one more, in 523 official matches.
So Ronaldo is showing himself as red wine, the older the better.
