Scalvini on Real Madrid’s radar

David Alaba’s serious knee injury has prompted Real Madrid to look for reinforcements in January and Giorgio Scalvini has reportedly ended up on the Spanish giants’ radar.

Alaba suffered a cruciate ligament injury in the 35th minute of the 4-1 win over Villarreal on Sunday night, an injury that will keep him out for the rest of the season.

This has further reduced Carlo Ancelotti’s options in the back line, with Eder Militao also out with a cruciate ligament problem.

That could prompt club president Florentino Perez to invest in the January transfer window to bring in a much-needed boost.

As reported by “AS”, Real Madrid’s first option to strengthen in January is Scalvini, who has continued to impress at Atalanta since he made his debut with the first team two years ago.

The 20-year-old centre-back, whose contract at Bergamo expires in June 2028, has also attracted the attention of other big clubs in Europe such as Manchester City and Bayern Munich.

Los Blancos’ other options include Benfica’s Antonio Silva, who has a €100m release clause, and Sporting Lisbon’s Goncalo Inacio, who would cost around €60-70m.
