Atletico Madrid defeated Real Madrid 3-1 in the derby of the Spanish capital. Morata (4′, 46′), and Griezmann (18′) scored for Atletico while Toni Kroos (35′) scored for Real Madrid.
Real Madrid have been handed their first defeat of the season as they were beaten by Atletico Madrid in their first serious test against a strong La Liga side.
Atletico Madrid started this meeting furiously scoring a goal in the fourth minute.
Lino made a perfect assist for Alvaro Morata who scored the first goal in this match. It was a goal scored with a header by the Spanish striker.
Atletico continued scoring goals with headers.
This time it was the seven-year-old Griezmann who scored another goal with a header in the 18th minute.
This would not be the last goal scored in the first half.
Real Madrid’s Toni Kroos got free and fired a powerful right-footed shot to score the goal that gave Los Blancos hope of a comeback. The goal was scored in the 35th minute.
But Atletico started the second half very well.
It was again a header from Simeone’s men, with Alvaro Morata making a superb use of Niguez’s cross to score in the 46th minute.
In the rest of the match, Atletico managed to neutralize Real Madrid’s attacks, even though Rodrygo (64′) and Aurelien Tchouameni (65′) had golden opportunities to score but failed to do so.
The victory makes Atletico climb to fifth place with 10 points, while Real Madrid drops to 3rd position.
Barcelona thus maintains first place in La Liga.
Atletico plays the next match in La Liga as guests of Osasuna, while Real Madrid hosts the Las Palmas team at home.
