Harry Kane has revealed how David Beckham pushed him to leave Tottenham to try a new challenge in his career at Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich

The England captain, after a magical record in North London for several years, decided to leave to seek trophies outside his homeland. 100 million pounds had to be paid to Bayern for him to play this season for the German champions.

English footballers have long been reluctant to leave their home turf of the Premier League, but now they seem keen to explore more new horizons. The Manchester United legend first bucked the trend in 2003 when he left Old Trafford for Real Madrid and Kane is delighted to have chosen the path the English icon has taken.

“Perhaps my journey here can be an inspiration to young English footballers to take the same steps. I remember when David Beckham made that move from Manchester United to Real Madrid. I was a child and I said to myself ‘what an amazing experience’. Maybe I took Beckham’s example. I always wanted to join another league, another atmosphere. So far everything is going well here: on and off the field. I liked Robert Lewandowski when he was a younger footballer, he took important steps and broke incredible records. I want to reach his level and maybe be even better,” Kane told Bild about his reasons for moving to Bayern.

Kane has already scored three goals in two Bundesliga appearances for Bayern. He failed to win a trophy on his debut for the team as Bayer were surprisingly beaten 3-0 by RB Leipzig in the German Super Cup final.
