French media with great criticism for Messi: The World Cup is over

The Argentine has been criticized a lot after the defeat by Rennes.

Paris Saint-Germain lost 1-0 against Rennes and this has caused a wave of criticism in France against the footballers of the Parisian club, especially Lionel Messi.

The defending champions and all their stars were ready for this match, but neither Messi, Neymar nor Kylian Mbappe could score.

While L’Equipe criticized Neymar, describing his performance as “disturbing” it was RMC who chose to hit out at the former Barcelona star.

Criticism of Messi in the French media

“He had a good season because he was well prepared for the World Cup, he trained well, but now it’s over,” RMC Sport wrote.

According to L’Equipe, the newspaper writes that he was not in his duties even though he received a grade of 4, the highest, out of 10.

“We didn’t see his extravaganza with the ball that we’re used to see,” the newspaper points out.

“The Argentinian tried to make it work for his team, mostly winning possessions in his own, before collapsing in the second half.”

Le Parisien were very diplomatic in their words suggesting that Messi’s influence in this match was “limited”.
