Karim Benzema has shown his support for the French national team after they won against England in the quarter-finals with a post on social media.
After beating England 2-1 – thanks to goals from Aurelien Tchouameni and Olivier Giroud, and after Harry Kane missed a penalty – Les Bleus will play in the next round at the World Cup against Morocco in search of a second consecutive World Cup final. However, they had to do so without Ballon d’Or winner Karim Benzema, who picked up an injury shortly before the start of the competition.
On Twitter, he showed his support for France by writing: “Come on guys, two more games and we’re almost there… I’m with you… Vamonos”.
When Benzema was injured, France coach Didier Deschamps said he was “very upset for Karim” and it was a “blow” to the whole team. However, the Blues are in contention to defend their title.
Les Bleus won the competition in 2018 without the help of Benzema and now they are two games away from doing so again.
