Koulibaly tells to whom the World Cup goal was dedicated.

Former Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly dedicated his World Cup winning goal against Ecuador to the victims of the landslide on the Italian island of Ischia

The 31-year-old defender, who spent eight years at Napoli before leaving for Chelsea for €38m this summer, was Senegal’s hero after scoring the winner in the 70th minute in the last game in group against Ecuador, a goal that sent them into the round of 16 at the World Cup.

Speaking to beIN Sports after the match, Koulibaly spoke about his emotions after the crucial victory at the World Cup.

“I’m really happy, it’s an emotional moment. We know it would be a tough match against a very good team, but we fought with great dedication and got the win and achieved our success.

“Now we have to think about the next game. We have a good group, with young talents. We are happy today”.

Speaking at this press conference, Koulibaly dedicated his goal to the victims of the Ischia landslide. At least seven people tragically lost their lives in the landslide, including a newborn baby.

“Because of that landslide there were many deaths. For Ischia and its inhabitants, to give them strength in these difficult moments. I want to dedicate the goal to them”.
