Inter know they need to make a significant sale in the next 12 months and they have decided Denzel Dumfries is the player to leave, media reports today.
The Dutch right-back is currently in Qatar with his Netherlands national team competing for the World Cup under Louis van Gaal. Dumfries has featured several times for Simone Inzaghi’s side this season but has struggled to find consistent form on the pitch, which was also seen in Holland’s opening game against Senegal at the World Cup.
As Corriere dello Sport reports, Inter need to generate funds in the next 12 months and are willing to sell a starter to generate new finances. The player they hope to sell is Dumfries, who currently has a price tag of €40 million.
Inter are hoping that the 26-year-old plays well in the World Cup in order to show his qualities in January and thus keep him until the end of the season.
Offers for Dumfries have not been lacking for Dumfries; in the summer Bayern Munich had shown interest in him and so had Chelsea in the past, including Romelu Lukaku in the deal.
